All Along

For the longest time, it seems
All I wanted was dreams
All of the things that I said
Were simply thoughts in my head

No matter how hard I would try
I simply could not deny
My mind’s chance to instill
That my dreams were not real

But one day, as a joke
My mind simply awoke
And opened up my eyes
And made me realize

That all I ever wanted
That all I’ll ever need
That all I ever wished for
That all that I can see

That everything I am
That everything that’s me
Is all I’ve ever wished for
All I’ve strived so long to be

And it might be just beginning
Or have been for far too long
I may be almost there
Or I may be too far gone

And maybe I’m correct
Or maybe I am wrong
But either way, I see today,
I’ve been this all along
