Clone
I see myself in another place,
And see a person with my face,
Who looks and acts and talks like me,
Compared to me, fits perfectly.
As I watch, I see it’s me,
It’s how I felt, internally,
It’s me as I traveled through life,
Through every day and every night.
And as I watch, I am sucked in,
I’m more absorbed than I was then,
Become addicted to my life,
What it was like fades out of sight.
I watch as people smash my dreams,
Attack and blast all my feelings,
Rip my heart out of my chest,
Ignite and burn all of the rest.
I watch as I am beaten down,
I watch myself fall to the ground,
I watch myself do stupid things,
I watch and cannot make it change.
And as I watch, I’m filled with rage,
I cannot break out of this cage,
I cannot seem to stop myself,
From helping cause the pain I felt.
At once I’m taken to a place,
I meet with myself face to face,
I see the pain that I have caused,
And see the things that I have lost.
Time slows down, goes in slow-motion,
And in a blur of pure emotion,
I beat myself until I bleed,
And keep on beating mercilessly.
I hate myself for my mistakes,
For times when I believed what’s fake,
For all the times that I was blind,
For when I screwed up all the time.
And as I think of everything,
That I’ve done wrong, I stop thinking,
And let myself go wild with strife,
Until I end my very life.
The world goes black and fades away,
I’m taken to another place,
I look around and I’m alone,
With no one left except my clone.
There’s nothing left, except for me,
There’s nothing left that I can see,
There’s nothing left to care about,
Except to find a new way out.
I watched my own self-destruction,
Watched as my life turned to nothing,
Watched the pieces fall apart,
Then cringed as pain began to start.
From here on out, I have to try,
To bring my dead soul back to life,
Give back feeling and resurrect,
The body of my life that’s left.
