Leaves

Nature & Seasons · #nature · #longing

The leaves paint pictures on my walls
For me to see as they sway back and forth
In the breeze, calmly casting complex
Shadows for me to appreciate

The same wind that moves these trees
Also carries away clouds, dreams, and loose paper
Quietly, away and out of reach they go
Never for me to see again

These leaves paint pretty pictures
Of things I’ll never have
And if I did have them, off they go
With the majestic wind to unknown lands
Far from the confines of my gaze
Never to be seen again
