The young man who feels so old, Had stumbled through his life, He tried to do what he was told, But never did things right. He did the best he could, But failure always brought him down, He tried to smile like he should, But all he did was frown. He blindly gave his love away, When judgment was masked by desire, The heart he wished he hadn’t gave, Was broken by a liar. And throughout his experience, He learned to hate himself, Vainly tried making sense of it, But confusion was all he felt. Then one day to his surprise, He found someone like him, Who also hated life, And it attracted him right then. He found someone who could relate, To everything he’d been through, Who knew what it was like to hate, Who liked what he was into. He found the perfect one, Who made his sadness disappear, The one who was so fun, She took his mind off all his fear. He found her nearly dead, At the end of her rope, Hanging by a tiny thread, With barely any hope. He remembered way back when, He felt that very way, Times his hope was growing thin, And could not last another day. He remembered wishing for, One person just to care, Someone who loved him more, Who always would be there. He realized that she needed him, And also that he’d need her, So he promised her right then, That he would never leave her. He loved her deeply with his heart, And said he’d always care, That even when they’re far apart, That he’d always be there. And so he wrote this poem for her, Because he loved her so, He loved her more than anything, And wanted her to know.
