hen the only good thing in your life leaves you

And you know you are to blame It becomes difficult to swallow The truth of the matter It becomes difficult to push it deep Down into the dark recesses of your heart And to hopefully forget it was ever there And you do, for a while, forget Until, with you unaware, It flings itself back from the dead Straight into your unflinching face Forcing you to examine the situation once more And so you do… It’s my fault I’m the one that erred You didn’t deserve that And I never once meant you harm I was sick and I was dying And I know now that watching me Was too much for you to bear You were scared the only good thing in your life was leaving you But you were never to blame But I need you to know I miss you, and I forgive you And I hope you’ll do the same for me The truth of the matter is It hurt But I’m finally letting go
